” It is what it is”

So many of us have grown to dislike this sometimes over used saying “it is what it is”, but I choose to look at the “saying” as a way of letting go. Letting go of a situation that is out of our control. This is not a bad thing, it’s not as if we don’t care anymore, but it becomes a way for us to move on. Dewelling on something that “is what it is” will only paralyze us physically and mentally, so much so, that we will be no  good to the situations we can control. It does feel so much better to live in the state of being productive with our problems, so recognize what we can and cannot change, then we may say “it is what it is” and most importantly…  move on with our life’s. A Great Kitchen Renovation

This is one of my favorite kitchen renovations. I have posted before, during and after pictures that you must see! We not only put new cabinets and counter tops in, we changed the functional obsolescent of the existing kitchen. We opened the wall going to the basement, reconfigured the basement door which added about 4 more foot of counter top, base cabinet drawers and exposed a hidden window in the basement stairwell. We took out the pantry closet located in the small eat-in area, neither of which were functional and added glass door front cabinets and a window seat. We even reclaimed and refinished the pine floors that were hidden under several layers of vinyl flooring! This was a top to bottom renovation that stayed within the original character of the house, and in the process added even more!

Moving a large bush or shrub…

We all want to keep every plant we have added to our yard over the years, but sometimes they outgrow their space. Here is a helpful hint for moving a large bush or shrub to another area of your yard. Cut around the root ball to a depth of 12 inches or more with a shovel, you will feel the feeder roots being severed.Let the plant stay in this state for a week or more. If it appears wilted, of course water it. This will reduce the shock of the move…. hence making the plant more likely to survive. All of our plants have value… so save them whenever possible, besides creating a new garden area is always a good thing.

New use for a Wine Glass.

I don’t know about you, but over the years I seem to have accumulated single wine glasses that have survived without being broken.

At the beach one afternoon, I was wondering what use I could find for a single glass that I happened to really like. Then an Idea! I was without a toothbrush holder in my bathroom. I was concerned, that without weight in the glass, it would fall over and my brushes would be all over the floor.

Problem solved. I happen to have some sea glass that was a wonderful light blue color! I simply filled the wine glass with the sea glass, about a third of the way up, which provided the weight I needed, and simply plugged my toothbrushes in the sea glass. I now had a fun toothbrush holder that has personalty, and has evoked wonderful comments from my family, friends and my guests.
